How to make Russian Salad


It is one of the popular salad dish in Russian cuisine. Also known as Olivier salad, Russian salad is quite popular in Russia and many European countries. It is usually prepared with boiled potatoes, carrots, green peas, eggs, celery, onions, diced boiled chicken, salt, pepper and mayonnaise. Mustard powder is added to give a rich flavour to this recipe.

  • 1 medium carrot
  • 1 medium size potato
  • 1 cup green peas
  • 125 grams french beans, chopped
  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp mustard powder
  • 1 tbsp mustard powder
  • 1 tbsp black pepper (crushed)
  • salt to taste
  • For Garnishing
  • some sliced tomatoes and cucumber


  • Firstly, boil potatoes, carrot, peas and french┬ábeans.
  • Then peel the potatoes and chop┬áthem into thin slices. Similarly, chop other vegetables as well.
  • Now take a bowl. Mix all the vegetables, mayonnaise, mustard powder, salt, and black pepper.
  • Garnish this delicious Russian salad with tomatoes and cucumber. Serve chilled.
