Upma is one of the healthiest breakfast recipes served in India. This breakfast is very filling it will keep you full for a long time & stop your craving for food which helps you to lose easily. You can also add veggies to the upma not only makes it tastier but also healthier. It is prepared from Semolina or rava which is easy to digest.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rava or semolina
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • ½ tsp urad dal
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 5-6 curry leaves
  • 3 tbsp peanuts
  • ½ onion, finely chopped
  • 1 inch ginger, finely chopped
  • 2 green chili, finely chopped
  • 2 tomato, finely chopped
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp peas (optional)
  • 2 beans, finely chopped (optional)
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • 3 cup water

Instructions

  • Firstly, heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan.
  • Add 1 tsp mustard, ½ tsp urad dal and few curry leaves and let them splutter.
  • Now add ½ onion, 1 inch ginger, 2 green chili and saute well till the raw smell disappears.
  • Roast 3 tbsp peanuts till they turn crunchy
  • Add 2 tomatoes and saute till they turn soft and mushy.
  • Add in ¼ tsp turmeric powder, ¾ tsp salt and ¼ tsp sugar. saute on low flame for a minute.
  • Now add vegetables like beans and peas. Saute till the vegetables get cook completely.
  • Add 3 cup water and add 1 tbsp ghee to the pan.
  • Let the whole mixture to boil.
  • Keeping the flame on low heat simultaneously add roasted suji. Stir well.
  • Now cover the pan for 3-5 minutes till tomato upma is cooked well.
  • Serve tomato upma with coconut chutney or green chutney.
