How to make Chicken Manchurian recipe


Chicken manchurian is the popular Indo-Chinese recipe. It is the adaption of Chinese seasoning with indian cooking style. Chicken pieces are marinated with cornflour, soy sauce, red chili powder and later added to manchurain gravy. It is a mouth watering dish and is favourite among indians. This recipe can be best served with hakka noodles or veg fried rice or it can be also served as an appetizer.

  • 300 grams Chicken ,chopped to small sizes
  • 1 Whole Egg
  • 2 tablespoons Corn flour
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Cooking oil
  • For Manchurian Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Corn flour
  • 1 tablespoon Soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons Red Chili sauce
  • 1/4 cup tomato puree
  • 1 teaspoon Chili vinegar
  • 1 cup Water
  • Ingredients for the gravy
  • 8 cloves Garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 inch Ginger, finely grated
  • 1 Onion,sliced
  • 1 Green Bell Pepper (Capsicum), thinly sliced
  • 2 Green Chilies , finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup Spring Onion Greens , chopped


  1. To begin with the recipe, firstly mix chicken pieces with cornflour, soy sauce, red chili powder and pinch of salt.
  2. Add egg white and mix until all the pieces are coated with the marinade mixture. Mix well and set aside for 1 hour.
  3. Heat 2 tbsp of oil on a medium flame.
  4. Once the oil is hot, add marinated mixture (chicken pieces) and deep fry them on medium flame until they turn to golden brown color.
  5. Once the chicken is cooked, drain all the pieces to a paper napkin. Make sure that all the pieces are well cooked.
  6. Now take another bowl. Add corn flour, soy sauce, red chili garlic sauce, tomato puree, chili vinegar and water. Mix all the ingredients well. The sauce is ready now.
  7. Now, take a wok. Heat 1 tbsp oil to it. Add ginger, garlic and saute for a minute.
  8. Add onions and green bell peppers, green chilies and saute for 2 minutes till onions turn to golden brown color.
  9. Add Chicken Manchurian Sauce mixture into the wok and cook till the gravy thickens.
  10. When the sauce begins to bubble, add marinated chicken pieces and toss for a minute so that the pieces completely mix with the manchurian gravy.
  11. Now Cook for 5-7 minutes in low heat, if the sauce becomes too thick then add some water. Adjust salt as requireed.
  12. Now switch off the flame. Garnish this Chicken manchurian recipe with spring onions and served hot.
  13. You can serve Chicken Manchurian recipe with hakka noodles and veg fried rice.
