Mutton Do Pyaza is prepared with goat meat and other vegetables. Here the main ingredient is Onion. Here we use onions at two stages and therefore it is known as Mutton Do Pyaza. We can have this dish as a main course meal. This dish can be served with naan, kulcha, chapati or rice.

  • 1 Kg Mutton (cut into pieces)
  • 1/4 Cup Ghee
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • 1 Tbsp Cumin seeds
  • 4 Whole peppercorns
  • 4 Cloves
  • 1/2 tsp Fenugreek seeds
  • 1 tsp powdered Fennel seeds
  • 1 tsp Ginger paste and garlic paste
  • 1 Cup grated onions.
  • 1/2 Cup Yogurt
  • 1 tsp Garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 Tbsp Coriander powder
  • 1 tsp Red Chili powder
  • 2-3 Green chilies (slit)
  • 2 Cups Onions, sliced
  • 2 Tbsp chopped Coriander leaves
  • Salt as per taste


  • Firstly, Take a pan. Heat the ghee on medium flame.
  • Add cumin seeds, bay leaf, cloves, fenugreek seeds and fennel seeds. Allow them to splutter.
  • Add the ginger-garlic paste and onions. Saute for 1 minute till the raw smell disappears.
  • Once the onions are turned into golden brown color, add mutton pieces to the pan.
  • Saute for 4-5 minutes over medium flame.
  • Now low the flame and cook more till the mutton pieces turns soft and semi mashy.
  • Add yogurt to the whole mixture and stir well. Make a note that while adding yogurt to the pan, your flame must be on low heat.
  • Cook for 5 minutes.
  • Now add all the ┬áremaining ingredients like garam masala, salt, turmeric, coriander and chili powder.
  • Add the green chilies and sliced onions to the pan.
  • Cook over medium heat till the whole fat separates.
  • Switch off the flame. Garnish with coriander leaves and served hot.
