Tips for making Tawa Fish Fry :

Firstly, wash all the fish pieces gently.

Marination is an important part of Fish Fry Recipe. Therefore we have to choose a variety of spices to marinate the fish pieces.

The general spices used for marination is: Ginger garlic paste, lemon juice, tandoori masala, chilli powder, amchur and crushed fenugreek leaves (Kasuri Methi).

Instead of lemon juice, you can simply replace it with the vinegar.

Post marination, refrigerate the mixture for 15 minutes so that all the fish pieces can absorb the flavours of it.

  • 1 kg of fish washed and cut into small pieces.
  • 1/2 tbsp Besan or chickepea flour
  • For marination:
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1/4 tsp ajwain
  • salt to taste
  • 3/4 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp kasuri methi
  • 3/4 tsp tandoori masala
  • 1/4 tsp biryani masala
  • 1 pinch amchur
  • 1 tsp Lemon juice
  • pinch of Turmeric powder
  • 2 tbsp Oil


  • Firstly, Take a bowl and mix all the ingredients like chili powder, fenugreek leaves, ginger garlic paste, tandoori masala, biryani masala, amchur, lemon juice, turmeric powder and salt.
  • Marinate all the fish pieces with this mixture. Keep aside for 10-15 minutes.
  • Now heat the oil in a pan. Add ajwain to it and let it to splutter.
  • After that add all the pieces, saute them for 5 minutes on both the sides.
  • Now coat all the fish pieces with chickepea flour or besan.
  • Fry for 5-10 minutes till all the fish pieces are cooked.
  • Transfer this dish into a serving plate and served hot.
