Paneer Tikka Masala Recipe:-

Paneer Tikka Masala is Creamy, Rich and delicious dish of India. According to the local sources, it is one of the most popular recipes of Paneer in India. Additionally, it is a great vegetarian alternative to Chicken Tikka Masala. This recipe is quite similar to Chicken Tikka Masala. The only difference is Paneer Cubes and some spices. Restaurant-style Paneer Tikka masala is a delicious, creamy and saucy dish that you can easily have it in your lunch and dinner.

Paneer refers to Indian cottage cheese, while tikka masala refers to the grilled chicken cubes mixed with slightly spicy gravy or thick curry.

It is an authentic Indian dish. This vegetarian dish mostly found in the Indian restaurant. Generally, it is served with naan, rice, jeera rice and roti. The flavour and taste of this recipe are somewhat unique from other paneer dishes because of its grilling.

To make a delicious Tikka Gravy, Paneer is first marinated and grilled in Oven or Tandoor. Then the grilled pieces are added to a delicious spicy tomato-onion gravy. If you don’t have Tandoori Oven at your home, you can grill Paneer in Oven or on a griddle.

Tips while making Paneer Masala Recipe

1. To make a soft Paneer tikka, firstly you need soft paneer cubes. You can also prefer homemade paneer.

2. Avoid using sour yoghurt, as it can make the curry sauce.

3. Always use fresh hung yoghurt. Don’t use sour yoghurt.

4. Always use rip, slightly red and sweet tomatoes. Avoid sour tomatoes as it can ruin the taste of your curry.

  • 250 grams Paneer or Cottage Cheese
  • Marination: 1/2 Cup Yoghurt (hung)
  • 3/2 tsp Ginger Garlic paste
  • 3/4 tsp Red chili powder
  • 3/4 Tsp Garam Masala powder
  • 1/4 Tbsp Turmeric
  • 1 Tsp oil
  • Salt to taste
  • For Puree -
  • 14 Cashew Nuts
  • 3/2 cup chopped or pureed tomatoes
  • 1 cup onions
  • 2 green cardamoms
  • Gravy for Paneer Tikka Masala -
  • 1 Bay Leaf (for flavour)
  • 2 Tbsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 1 Tbsp Red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp garam masala
  • 1/4 tsp Fenugreek leaves or kasuri Methi
  • 3 to 4 tbsp cream
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves
  • 2 tbsp oil or butter


Marination of Paneer Tikka Masala:

  • Firstly, add yoghurt, ginger garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, oil and salt to a bowl.
  • Mix well. Add paneer cubes to a bowl. Marinate all the pieces well. 
  • Add onions, tomatoes, cardamoms, cashew to the blender jar. make a smooth paste.

Making Paneer Tikka In a Tawa:

  • Heat a tbsp oil or butter in a pan. Place the paneer on tawa on a high flame till the marinade dries up and it turns to golden brown color. 
  • Process of Making Paneer Tikka masala:
  • Heat oil in a pan. Add bay leaf, ginger garlic paste. Fry them for a minute till the raw smell disappears.
  • Now add onion tomato puree to the pan. Fry it till the mixture leaves the oil.
  • Add garam masala powder, chili powder and salt.
  • Saute for 2 minutes. Pour 1 cup of water till the gravy thickens. Add more water if needed.
  • Crush the fenugreek leaves in your hands and sprinkle it in the gravy.
  • Transfer the paneer tikka to the gravy. Mix gently so that all the paneer cubes soaked the gravy.
  • Pour cream and coriander leaves in the paneer tikka masala .Mix and switch off the flame.
  • Serve hot paneer tikka masala with roti, naan, rice or pulav.
