Crispy Corn Recipe | How to make Crispy Corn

Crispy Corn is one of the popular Indian snack recipes. It is generally made by frying the corns followed by the flavourings with loads of spices. There are several ways to make a crispy corn recipe. Crunchy corn is topped with some garlic, onions and sauces that one could possibly desire for. There are different ways crispy corn made in-home and restaurants. Generally, cornflour and egg powder are used for the coating of Crispy corn.

The secret key to making good crispy corn is to pick the corn kernels from the cob and not cut them with a knife. After all, it’s a lip-smacking snack that is prepared within minutes. A well tossed Crispy corn with the tomato sauce enhances its flavour.

  • 3 cups of corn
  • 6 tbsp cornflour
  • 4-6 tbsp rice flour
  • 1/2 tsp pepper powder
  • 1/4 to 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 cups of water
  • Spice Powders for Crispy Corn:
  • 3/4 tsp Jeera powder
  • 3/4 to 1 tsp chaat masala
  • 3/4 tsp red chilli powder
  • Other Ingredients:
  • 2-3 tbsp onions
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice


  • Cut the corn cob in two parts. Now pick the whole kernels from the cob. 
  • Add all the corn to a bowl. Avoid using the knife while picking the corn. This may cause splutter the corn while frying.
  • Add them to salted water and boil for 4 minutes. Drain and rinse under running water. 
  • Transfer all the corn to a bowl. 

Frying Crispy Corn: 

  • Heat the oil in a medium flame for frying. While the oil heats, coat the corn with the flour.
  • Then add corn flor, rice flour, some salt and pepper. Toss them completely. 
  • Add some more flour, if needed. Sprinkle 1 tbsp water. 
  • When the oil gets, drop one corn kernel and check it. Do remember that the oil must be hot at this stage otherwise, chances are that the flour might be dispersed in the oil.
  • Add a group of corn kernel one by one. Please note that the oil should be on medium flame.
    Place them on a blotting paper so that it removes the excess oil from the corn kernels. 
  • Seasoning Of a Crispy Corn:
  • Add all the fried crispy corn to a serving plate or a bowl. Sprinkle red chili powder, cumin powder and some chaat masala.
  • Sprinkle some onions and chopped coriander leaves. Add a few drops of lemon juice.
  • Serve hot crispy corn immediately with the seasonings. Enjoy!!
