Aam Ka Panna Ingredient List

Mango — Raw, green mangoes are the key ingredient that provides a tangy and slightly sour taste. It’s a warm-weather fruit, so grab the kaccha aam ( raw mango) at its peak, like early April- May. After that, the mangoes ripen and turn from green to a deep, golden yellow fruit.

Jaggery — The sweet taste of jaggery will help lighten the bitter taste of the raw mangoes. It is used as a healthy alternative to sugar. Besides that, jaggery lends a beautiful caramel-golden shade to this drink.

Spices — Black peppercorns, cumin, and black salt enhance the flavor and relieve the sweltering heat. The infusion of flavors from these spices creates a perfect balance of sweetness, tanginess, and a hint of spice, making Aam Ka Panna a genuinely refreshing and unique beverage.

Mint — Fresh mint deepens the flavor of aam ka panna and takes this recipe’s flavor a notch up, adding its unique freshness and medicinal value.

Aam ka Panna recipe tips and Variations

For the best-tasting Aam Panna — The key to a great Aam ka Panna loaded with flavors lies in the correct selection of mangoes. Ripe, juicy, and most flavorful mangoes, such as the Kesar or Totapuri varieties, make the best choice for this recipe. The natural tanginess and the sweetness of these mangoes offer incomparable flavor to the aam panna and lend a distinct character to the beverage.

Ensuring a smooth and creamy consistency — Boiling the mangoes is an essential step to soften the raw mangoes’ texture and extract the maximum pulp. Boiling also allows the mangoes to release their flavors and removes the extra tartness. It also helps the fruit’s natural sweetness to emerge, resulting in a more flavorful concoction. You can also slice or chop the mangoes to speed up the process.

Sour mangoes make the tangiest drink — The tanginess of the drink is determined by the tartness of the raw mangoes. The art of making this drink lies in harnessing the essence of the fruit and transforming it into a delicious drink loaded with flavors and freshness. Sometimes the mangoes are not very sour, and the resulting drink is less tangy than expected. So, just add a tablespoon of lemon juice and enjoy.

An essential step — This drink is best enjoyed when it has a smooth and creamy consistency. Extracting the raw mango pulp after boiling the fruit is crucial while preparing this drink. Peel the mangoes after boiling and pulse the fruit’s flesh into smaller pieces after removing the fibrous core. Keep a fine-mesh strainer handy to remove the mango fibers from the pulp and ensure the aam panna is free from any fibers.

The magic of spices — The spices add a depth of flavor and complexity to the drink while enhancing its deliciousness. Grind the spices together in the mortar and pestle for an authentic taste. You can even use a spice grinder to create a fragrant and flavorful spice mix that takes the drink to the next level.

Add water to adjust the consistency — Enjoy this delicious drink by keeping the consistency according to your liking. If you like a thicker consistency, reduce the water quantity to 4 cups. Add more water for a drink with a thinner consistency.

Choices for sweetening the aam panna — Both sugar and jaggery can be used to enhance this delicious drink, depending on your preference. While sugar provides a sweeter taste, jaggery adds a rich caramel-like flavor and a deeper hue. However, ensure that the sweeteners are pulsed in the blender before water is added to it. This will provide a homogeneous mixture with sweetness shining through.

Serve as you please — This sweet and tangy Aam ka Panna, loved for its vibrant flavors, can be served in endless possible ways. Turn them into popsicles or use them as ice cubes to enhance the flavor of other beverages. Invent heavenly mocktails with it or create fizzy sodas; you can challenge your creativity and experiment as far as your imagination takes you! With the unlimited choices available, don’t restrict yourself; explore different ways to enjoy your favorite drink.

Chaat masala for an extra flavor — If you are a creative soul finding different ways to unveil refreshing ways to serve your Aam Panna, try to bring an exciting twist to the taste by adding a hint of spice. A dash of chaat masala added to the mixture before refrigerating will surprise you with an extra burst of flavor. It adds a subtle kick of flavor and awakens your taste buds with the overloaded tanginess.

The delightful tropical twist — How about mixing this flavourful drink with some coconut water or pineapple juice? I am sure you will love the new prep, as these additions will infuse your Aam Panna with light and exotic flavor, transporting you to a beachside paradise with every sip! Want to consider other fruits? Sure, you must! Experiment with mango, watermelon, strawberries, pineapples, or peaches, and exhilarate with your newly created fruity fusions.

Fizzy amusement — Are you the one who enjoys fizzy beverages? Then, add a splash of sparkling water or soda to your Aam Panna and let the effervescent twist bring more fun to your drink. The refreshing carbonation added to the drink makes the drink more invigorating on a scorching summer day. To gratify the explorer in you, you can also experiment with different types of soda, such as lemon-lime or ginger ale, to introduce an extra layer of complexity to the flavor profile.

A sweet and crunchy variation that delights: — If you crave a touch of sweetness that balances the tanginess of the raw mangoes, drizzling some natural sweeteners like honey or agave syrup into your Aam Panna will be a fantastic idea. They not only enhance the overall deliciousness of the drink but also provide a smooth and luscious texture that makes your Aam Panna completely irresistible. Additionally, you can make the drink more exquisite by garnishing each glass with a sprinkle of crushed pistachios or slivered almonds. These will render a delightful crunch to the drink besides adding a glamorous touch while serving.

Bring in some uniqueness: — It’s time to experiment, find your signature variation, and make some creative additions that take your favorite drink to the next level. If you are ready, why not play with herbs and spices to create a unique fusion of flavors that flatters your palate with every sip? Crush a few basil leaves and toss them into the concoction or add a pinch of cardamom powder; you are ready to dive into a refreshing beverage offering a symphony of uniquely delightful flavors!

For a fizzy glass of Aam Panna — Give a slightly fizzy twist to your usual Aam Panna by remodeling it into Aam Panna Soda. Fill a glass with ice cubes and add a generous amount of Aam Panna concentrate. Top it off with sparkling water or club soda. Frequently Asked Questions

Can I store this Aam ka Panna?
Yes, this delicious summer drink can be stored in the refrigerator in an air-tight container for about a week.
Can I boil mangoes in the traditional pressure cooker?
Absolutely, you can! You can boil the mangoes for this drink in many different ways –

  • You can boil them in an open pan over a stovetop. The rest of the recipe instructions remain the same.
  • Another way is to pressure cook the mangoes for 2-3 whistles until soft and tender. This is a quicker way to boil the raw mangoes.
  • Alternatively, you can microwave the mangoes too. Place the large mangoes in a microwavable bowl and fill it with water. Microwave them on HIGH for about 10-12 minutes or until soft. Finally, peel the mangoes and follow the recipe as instructed.
  • For medium-sized mangoes, micro on HIGH for 6-7 minutes or until soft.

What can I use instead of jaggery?
Using jaggery makes a healthier version of this lip-smacking recipe. I have used crushed/ powdered jaggery as it blends easily when pulsed with the Panna and forms a homogeneous mixture that is smooth and creamy.
But you can swap the jaggery with sugar if you want.
Another healthier way to sweeten your Aam ka Panna is to add dates for jaggery. Soak ¾ cup of dates in water for about 40 minutes. After resting time, discard the water and transfer the dates to the blender.
Blend until smooth and pass through a fine mesh strainer to obtain a smooth mixture that can be added to the concentrate of Aam Panna.
Should I peel the mangoes to make Aam ka Panna?
The choice is entirely up to you! I prefer boiling the mangoes with the skin on. This ensures –

  • The juicy pulp is intact, and
  • The skin adds a little extra flavor too.

There is no right or wrong way to make this luscious drink. Some of you may prefer peeling the mangoes, which is perfectly fine.
Choose whatever option appeals to you the most. If in haste, peel and chop the fruit and then boil it in water. Either way, Aam ka Panna will taste amazing!
What are the creative ways to serve aam Panna drink?
Serving this Aam Panna in different versions can be fascinating. One fun way to serve this beverage is to turn it into ice cubes by pouring it into an ice cube tray and freezing it until solid.
It’s a fantastic way to keep your beverages cool and add an extra flavourful charm to your usual refreshments and a classy way to add a visual appeal to the drinks.
Drop a few Aam Panna ice cubes when serving your favorite summer drinks like lemonade or iced tea, and enjoy a fresh burst of spicy, tangy flavors that gradually infuse into your drink as they melt. I guarantee it will leave your taste buds craving for more!
A frozen delight to fall in love with – With so many creative ways to serve this mango drink, here’s another great idea for a delightful transformation- turn it into popsicles! I can assure you your kids will love this fantastic modification.
Prepare a batch of Aam panna and pour it into popsicle molds. Insert sticks and let them freeze until solid. You are ready to treat your family and friends with a great homemade frozen dessert.
