Frequently Asked Questions

Is samosa chaat a make-ahead recipe?
Partially make ahead recipe — Some elements of this recipe can be made ahead and used later when required, like the date-tamarind chutney, green chutney, and beaten curd.
Other ingredients that can be made in advance — Besides the chutneys and the samosas, you can also use cooked chole masala or sautéed chole that has been stored in an air-tight container in the refrigerator. Precooked chole stays well for 3 days in the fridge.

How can I store this Samosa Chaat?
The assembled samosa chaat cannot be stored because the wet ingredients make the samosa soggy after some time. However, you can store the ingredients separately and assemble them later when required —
Samosa- Can be stored in a ziploc bag in the fridge.
Leftover chole- Transfer in an air-tight container and store it in the refrigerator. It keeps well for 2-3 days.
Chutneys- Can be refrigerated for 3-4 days and frozen for up to 3 months.
Other ingredients- They need to be chopped and assembled fresh.

What else can I make with the leftover samosas?
Besides this lip-smacking chaat to enjoy with a warm cup of chai (tea), you can also make other savory delicacies with the leftover samosas.
Like, you can also make a samosa sandwich, which is yet another delicious option. Warm the leftover samosa, smash it between two toasted bread slices, and top it with yummy chutneys.
Also, add some onions and sev for extra deliciousness.

Can I freeze this Samosa Chaat?
Assembled samosa chaat cannot be stored as the wet ingredients will make the samosa soggy after some time. Therefore, this recipe is not a freezer-friendly recipe.
However, ingredients like samosa, chole masala, and chutneys can be separately stored in freezer-safe containers and frozen for later use.
